Sophie Park is Professor of Primary Care and Clinical Education and Deputy Head of Department (Undergraduate Education) in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences at the University of Oxford. She serves as Honorary Professor of Primary Care and Medical Education at University College London and practices as a General Practitioner in Hertfordshire. Her qualifications include MBChB, M.Med.Sci (distinction), EdD, SFHEA, and FRCGP. As Director of Primary Care Undergraduate Studies, she leads the Undergraduate Teaching Group, coordinating primary care student learning. This encompasses courses including Patient & Doctor 1 for early patient contact, Medical Statistics for pre-clinical medical students, Learning with Patients longitudinal placements promoting student-patient partnership, Final Honours School projects, GP placements across Thames Valley practices, Communication Skills, Student Selected Teaching in Primary Care, 'Out of Oxford' General Practice teaching, Evidence Based Medicine course, and Student Selected Modules in Primary Care.
Park leads the Primary Care Workforce and Learning Research Group, focusing on clinical education, primary care workforce, workforce sustainability in clinical education and primary healthcare organisation and delivery, equitable patient care, healthcare services, learning systems, and patient involvement in education and research. She chairs the Royal College of General Practitioners Scientific Foundation Board funding panel and the Society of Academic Primary Care Education Research Group, co-chairs the NIHR Incubator for Clinical Education Research, and co-leads the NIHR School of Primary Care Research Evidence Synthesis Working Group network. Her Primary Care Medical Education team received Sustainable Quality Improvement Beacon Site Status from the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare for embedding sustainability into the Community Based Medicine course.
