Sophie Graham serves as Kaiārahi and Health Sciences Māori Student Coordinator in the Māori Health Workforce Development Unit at the University of Otago, within the Division of Health Sciences. Of Ngāi Te Rangi descent, she grew up in Ōtepoti and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology from the University of Otago. Her career encompasses roles as a research assistant in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Psychological Medicine, multiple years of experience in mental health and community support, and a position as student advocate at OUSA Student Support from 2018 to 2019.
Sophie is passionate about developing holistic healthcare systems that more effectively incorporate Māori perspectives. In her current role, she supports tauira Māori through the Te Whakapuāwai programme, providing targeted assistance to Māori students undertaking the Health Sciences First Year (HSFY) course. Her work aligns with the University of Otago's commitment to cultivating a diverse and qualified health workforce.
