Dr Sonia Raghav is a Lecturer in the School of Management and Marketing within the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. She obtained her PhD in Organisational Behaviour from the University of Western Australia Business School in 2019, under the supervision of Patrick Dunlop and Cristina Gibson, following her B.Sc., M.Sc., MBA, and Management studies at the University of Tasmania (2007-2009). Prior to her appointment at Curtin in February 2019, she held a Sessional Academic position in UWA's Department of Management and Organisations from July 2014 to January 2019, while pursuing her doctorate from February 2015 to January 2019. Raghav's research examines multiple identities, intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships, team dynamics, group processes, and workplace performance, with a specific emphasis on identity interactions in complex professional teams and their effects on relational processes, communication, coordination, performance, job satisfaction, and group affect. Her PhD thesis, 'Multiple identity interactions: Implications for work outcomes,' employed a mixed-methods approach to investigate these dynamics and potential organizational moderators.
A prominent publication is her co-authored article 'Navigating identities in global work: Antecedents and consequences of intrapersonal identity conflict' with Cristina B. Gibson and Patrick D. Dunlop, published in Human Relations (first online January 2020). Based on 122 global workers from a multinational mineral refining firm across five locations, it reveals that greater tolerance for ambiguity, resilience, and team identification reduce intrapersonal identity conflict, promoting thriving via learning and vitality. Raghav has also presented conference papers such as 'The Influx Of Overseas Trained Health Care Professionals: Multiple Identity Interactions In Teams' (2019), 'Integrating Simulation Based Team Training For Effective Communication and Inclusion in Diverse Healthcare Teams' (2019), 'An Identity Based Framework for Effectiveness in Complex Multicultural Teams' (2017), and others on identity synergy and frameworks for team effectiveness.
