Simone Warrick-Bell (she/her/hers) serves as the Graduate Academic Counselor at the University of Maryland's Graduate School, a position she has held since February 2020. She earned a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Towson University and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with the State of Maryland. Prior to her current role, Simone worked for six years as Care Manager at the University of Maryland Counseling Center, where she provided case management services for both undergraduate and graduate students, offered long-term counseling support resources, and coordinated care with mental health staff. Her extensive professional experience encompasses mental health case management, counseling, and advocacy for student well-being. In her present capacity, Simone supports graduate students across all disciplines by managing Leave of Absence requests, assisting students in returning from leaves, and developing programming focused on mental health care. She conducts individual consultations addressing academic and personal challenges, facilitates referrals to campus and community resources, and leads workshops on topics such as deep breathing techniques, the benefits of listening to music for stress reduction, maintaining social connections during difficult times, and restorative practices like yoga sessions.
Simone Warrick-Bell actively contributes to the University of Maryland community through various initiatives enhancing graduate student mental health and wellness. She has presented at events including the Postdoctoral Research Symposium on balancing wellness with job searches, BSOS Graduate Student Mental Health and Wellness Check-Ins, Thriving in Graduate School Through a Wellness Lens, and Reflection Circles on racial trauma and healing. Additionally, she serves as a contact for the Red Folder project, participates in Graduate Council meetings, and provides interim support for roles such as Graduate Student Ombuds Officer. In recognition of her exceptional contributions, Simone received the 2026 Fearlessly Forward Award as an MVP Impact Award recipient. Her work underscores a commitment to fostering a supportive environment for graduate students navigating academic and personal demands.
