Dr. Shengping Li is a Lecturer in Construction Management at Curtin University’s School of Design and the Built Environment within the Faculty of Humanities. She obtained her PhD from the University of Melbourne and previously held a prestigious CSIRO Early Research Career Fellowship. During her postdoctoral tenure at CSIRO, she contributed significantly to the “Towards Net Zero” project, advancing decarbonisation strategies for the Australian built environment. Additionally, from 2016 to 2017, she worked as a research assistant at the National University of Singapore.
Dr. Li’s research expertise spans sustainable construction, the decarbonisation of the built environment, building energy efficiency, low carbon cities, circular economy principles, material flow analysis, and life cycle assessment methodologies. She has been involved in more than ten research initiatives funded by diverse bodies, including the International Energy Agency, Australian organizations, Singaporean institutions, and Chinese funders. Her scholarly contributions include presentations at international conferences, roles on scientific and organizing committees, and notable publications such as "Factors and structural paths of the changes in carbon emissions in China’s provincial construction industries" (2024), "Applications of geospatial technologies for construction and demolition waste management: A systematic literature review" (2024), "Spatiotemporal variations in the carbon emissions in China’s construction industry" (2025), "Multi-objective optimization of engineered wood products based on machine learning and generative adversarial network" (2024), and "An empirical study on the CO2 emissions in the Chinese construction industry." Dr. Li maintains memberships in Engineers Australia, the International Society for Industrial Ecology, and the American Society of Civil Engineers. In her teaching role at Curtin University, she serves as a unit coordinator, lecturer, tutor, and PhD supervisor, shaping education in sustainable practices within construction management.
