Dr. Sharon Davies serves as a Senior Lecturer and Academic Lead for Quality Assurance in the School of Education, Faculty of Humanities at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education from Curtin University and has built a distinguished career in higher education with a focus on teacher training and professional development. Previous positions include Acting Director of Learning and Teaching and Master of Teaching Course Coordinator, where she played key roles in curriculum design and program management. In her current role, she oversees the accreditation of all Initial Teacher Education (ITE) courses, ensuring high standards in teacher preparation. Davies's research specializations include early childhood education from birth to 8 years, leadership in early childhood education, and iSTEM (integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). She has a strong interest in fostering educator growth through action research, which drives changes in practitioners' skills, behaviors, dispositions, and promotes cultures of continuous professional learning. As a member of the STEM Education Research Group and a discipline expert in Curtin University's Professional Learning Hub for Educators, she contributes to advancing innovative pedagogies and digital integration in educational settings.
Davies's career at Curtin University spans teaching, coordination, and leadership, beginning with her graduation from the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) with honours, for which she received the 2008 Curtin Department of Education award for outstanding performance. Her scholarly contributions include the 2025 publication 'Quality unit co-ordination: achieving excellence with sessional academic leaders' in the Journal of Learning Development in Higher Education; the 2020 co-authored paper 'Maintaining an empowered school community: Introducing digital technologies by building digital literacies at Beehive Montessori School' published in London Review of Education; contributions to 'Self-regulated learning in digital environments: theory, research, praxis' (2024); 'iPads and Children with Special Learning Needs: A Survey of Experiences in Australia' (2012); and 'Unsupervised Online Constructed-Response Tests: Maximising Student Learning and Results Integrity.' Additional outputs encompass 2020 book chapters and 2014 journal articles. Through these works and her supervisory role in higher degree research projects, Davies has influenced practices in digital literacies, self-regulated learning, and early childhood STEM integration, enhancing teacher education and school leadership across Australia.
