About Satish

Dr. Satish Kumar is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Dean (Research and Consultancy) at the National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur. He earned his B.Tech and M.Tech degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat, in 2002 and 2004, respectively. Dr. Kumar completed his Ph.D. in 2014 from the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee, under the supervision of Professor B.K. Gandhi. His research focuses on multiphase flows and coatings, areas in which he has authored and co-authored over 150 research articles in reputed journals. He has successfully completed five sponsored research projects funded by various agencies and is currently managing three ongoing projects. Dr. Kumar has supervised 16 Ph.D. theses and 55 M.Tech theses in multiphase flow. His scholarly impact is evidenced by a Google Scholar H-index of 33, i10-index of 159, Scopus H-index of 28, and over 7,600 citations.

Key publications include the co-edited book Slurry Erosion: Flow Phenomenon, Complexities, and Protection (2024), contributions to Advances in Applied Mechanics (2024, Springer), Experimental analysis of Solid particle erosion on SS 410 stainless steel (2024, Journal of Physics: Conference Series), Wear resistance of Stellite 6 coatings at high temperature (2024, Surface Review and Letters), CFD Analysis of Fly Ash Slurry Flow across Horizontal Pipe (2023, Journal of Advanced Research in Fluid Mechanics and Thermal Sciences), and Performance analysis of bare SS-304 using silt of size 350- (2021, AIP Conference Proceedings). Dr. Kumar holds multiple administrative roles at NIT Jamshedpur, including Faculty in Charge of Admission, Chairman of the Institute Publication Cell, and Chairman of the Institute Newsletter. He is a life member of ISTE, ASME, NSFMFP, IAENG, Institution of Engineers, and NITTSD, and serves as an editor for several reputed journals and books.
