Sari Fordham holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Southern Adventist University, a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Iowa State University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Literary Nonfiction from the University of Minnesota. As Associate Professor of English at La Sierra University, she taught creative writing courses, including those for the M.A. in English program. Fordham founded The Roadrunner Review, an international student literary journal, in 2019 and served as editor-in-chief for its first eleven issues. She developed a dedicated course, Literary Editing and Publishing, to train students in copy editing, literary evaluation, social media promotion, and publication management. Under her leadership, the journal published fiction, nonfiction, and poetry from young writers worldwide three times a year, awarded annual prizes in each genre, and hosted a high school contest. The Roadrunner Review gained membership in the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses, had pieces selected as finalists for Best of the Net awards, and was featured at the PEN America World Voices Festival for its commitment to diverse emerging voices.
Fordham is the author of the memoir Wait for God to Notice, published by Etruscan Press in 2021, which earned an Honorable Mention in the 2021 Los Angeles Book Festival and was shortlisted for the Sarton Women's Book Award. Her creative nonfiction essays have appeared in outlets including Brevity, Booth, Passages North, Baltimore Review, Chattahoochee Review, Green Mountains Review, The New York Times, and Best of the Net. She contributed chapters such as 'Visible Mending: A Recipe for Beautiful and Sustainable Clothing' to Almanac for the Anthropocene and 'When You Care about the Environment But Also Love to Shop' to Kids Ask Hard Questions Vol 2. Fordham received a nonfiction grant from the Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference and a fellowship from the Djerassi Resident Artists Program. Her work explores personal narratives shaped by global experiences, including her childhood in Uganda and Kenya, and themes of environment and place.
