Dr Sarah Veitch is a Lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University. She holds a position within the FBL Student Experience group and the FBL Faculty Operations section. Her office is located in Room 203, Curtin Business School 1, on the Curtin Perth campus. In her role, she contributes to academic capability development, particularly focusing on language and literacy support through initiatives such as Post-Entry Language Assessment (PELA) practices. She is affiliated with the Office of the Pro Vice Chancellor in the Faculty of Business and Law, supporting student academic development in business and law disciplines.
Prior to joining Curtin University, Dr Sarah Veitch worked at Murdoch University in the Centre for University Teaching and Learning, serving as Academic Coordinator for Learning Support (Undergraduate). Her scholarly contributions emphasize embedding communication and literacy skills in higher education curricula, resilience in teaching, and collaborations between academic language advisors and disciplines. Key publications include 'Positioning PELA practice within language and literacy development' (Journal of Academic Language and Learning, 2022, with Stephen Johnson); 'Collaborating to embed the teaching and assessment of literacy in Education: A targeted unit approach' (2016); 'A framework to embed communication skills across the curriculum: A design-based research approach' (2015, with Steve Johnson, Jane Pearce, and Silvia Dewiyanti); 'Mythology as hallmark event legacy: The endurance of America's Cup mythology in the city of Fremantle' (2013); and 'Paradigm Shift or a Drop in the Ocean? The America's Cup Impact on Fremantle' (2012, with John Selwood and Jim Macbeth). Dr Veitch has presented at events including the WA Teaching and Learning Forum (2013, 2015, 2019) and Association for Academic Language and Learning (AALL) conferences, where she serves as an executive member and Communications Lead.
