Sarah Mellor is the Wellbeing Clinical Psychologist in the Mental Health and Wellbeing Team at the University of Otago's Student Health Services in Dunedin, a position she joined in 2024. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Otago (1997), a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology from the University of Otago (2000), and an MSc PGDipClinPsyc. Her career encompasses over 25 years in clinical psychology, starting with her training at Otago and including eight years in the United Kingdom as a Child and Adolescent Clinical Psychologist. In the UK, she held positions in paediatric inpatient and outpatient services, child and adolescent HIV clinics, child neuropsychology, child and adolescent mental health, paediatric haematology and sickle cell services, acute trauma, adult learning difficulties, corrections, adult and older adult neuropsychology, and inpatient mental health.
Since 2012, Mellor has operated a private practice in Dunedin, initially with Visser & Associates and currently co-directing DrewCrannitch Psychologists alongside Rachel Drew. Her practice delivers evidence-based interventions for clients across all ages, with a focus on young adults, adolescents, and children. She utilizes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), trauma-focused therapies, and mindfulness-based interventions. Mellor addresses issues such as anxiety, mood disorders, eating and body image concerns, self-harm, substance misuse, trauma, stress, health anxiety, OCD, PTSD, and relationship difficulties. She performs comprehensive adult ADHD diagnostic assessments involving clinical interviews and psychometrics, provides ACC-funded services for sensitive claims including sexual trauma, facilitates therapeutic groups, delivers workshops, and supervises other professionals. She maintains close collaborations with University of Otago Student Health Services, ACC organizations, and local schools.
