Dr Sanjeewa (Sanjee) Perera serves as Senior Lecturer in the School of Management, College of Business and Law at Adelaide University, and is a researcher within the Centre for Workplace Excellence. She earned a Bachelor of Humanities and a PhD in Business and Management from the University of South Australia. Before entering academia, Perera worked as a Human Resource practitioner in service and manufacturing sectors, holding her final position as Human Resource Manager for a multi-national apparel manufacturer operating in two countries. Her research specializations encompass workforce diversity with emphasis on age and gender, emotions in work life, and human resource management. Ongoing projects include 'The Mature Workers in the Public Sector Stage 2' funded by the Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Employment (2025-2027) and 'Mature-Age Employees - South Australian Public Sector' supported by the Department for Health and Wellbeing (2024).
Perera has an extensive publication record in prestigious outlets. Key articles feature 'Engage me: The mature-age worker and stereotype threat' (Academy of Management Journal, 2016, with C.T. Kulik and C. Cregan), 'Help or hindrance? Work-life practices and women in management' (The Leadership Quarterly, 2016, with K. Kalysh and C.T. Kulik), 'Inclusion climate: A multilevel investigation of its antecedents and consequences' (Human Resource Management, 2019, with Y. Li, C.T. Kulik, and I. Metz), 'When time is running out: A growth curve analysis of older workers' retirement intentions' (Journal of Organizational Behavior, 2023, with C. Cregan, C.T. Kulik, and S. Sardeshmukh), and 'In or out: job exits of older workers' (Asia Pacific Journal of Human Resources, 2015, with S.R. Sardeshmukh and C.T. Kulik). Book chapters include 'Gender equality in organizations: the dynamics of space' (2022, Handbook on the Business of Sustainability) and 'I-deals: not ideal for employee diversity?' (2022, Idiosyncratic Deals at Work). She received the UniSA Business School Research Excellence Awards for Top Research Team in 2019 (with Shruti Sardeshmukh and Sukhbir Sandhu). Perera supervises PhD candidates on inclusive leadership, neurodiverse teams, hybrid partnerships, and digital innovation in healthcare. She teaches BUSS 5425 Managing People and Organisations.
