Roderick D. O’Handley, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Education in the Department of Special Education, Rehabilitation, and Counseling at California State University, San Bernardino, where he joined the faculty in 2018. He holds an appointment in the School Psychology program and teaches graduate-level courses including EDSP 6756 Seminar/Internship in School Psychology, EDSP 6691 Applied Research in Education, EDSP 6688 Behavioral Assessment and Intervention, and EDSP 6658 Consultation in School Systems for School Psychologists. O’Handley earned a B.A. in Psychology from California State University, San Bernardino in 2011 and a Ph.D. in School Psychology in 2016 from the APA- and NASP-accredited program at the University of Southern Mississippi. He completed his pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral research fellowship at the APA-accredited Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His professional experience includes providing behavioral health services in schools, behavioral health clinics, and integrated behavioral pediatric clinics to school-aged youth and their families. O’Handley also serves as a member of the Institutional Review Board and the Office of Student Research Advisory Board.
Dr. O’Handley’s research specializations encompass behavioral assessment and intervention, with specific interests in assessing and treating social skill deficits, coaching teachers and parents to implement evidence-based interventions, and utilizing class-wide interventions to manage classroom behavior. He directs the Behavioral Assessment and Intervention Research (BAIR) Lab, engaging students in peer-reviewed manuscript reviews, grant writing, conference presentations, and publications. His contributions have earned him the 2021-2022 Outstanding Research, Scholarly, or Creative Contribution Award and the 2020-2021 Research and Creative Activity Mentor Award at CSUSB, as well as the Behavioral Health Education Center of Nebraska Ambassador Career Engagement Award and recognition as a Ronald E.
