Dr. Rekha B. Venkatapur serves as Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at K.S. Institute of Technology, Bangalore, a position she has held since joining the institution on June 2, 2013. With 31 years of teaching experience, she possesses a B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering, an M.Tech. from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, and a Ph.D. As a recognized Ph.D. guide affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University in the areas of Data Mining and Image Processing, she has successfully guided one doctoral scholar to award and is currently supervising five others. Her scholarly output includes 31 publications, comprising 27 international and 4 national papers, along with two Indian books, one Australian book, and two book chapters. Dr. Venkatapur has earned the Distinguished Women in Engineering award from Venus International Foundation in 2017. She holds professional memberships as a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), and Member of the Computer Society of India (CSI). Her contributions extend to securing grants from the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology, serving as a session chair at international conferences, and reviewing student projects for BITES-Xcelerator. Within KSIT, she has guided 55 undergraduate and 12 postgraduate projects and participates in committees such as the Industry Institute Interaction Cell and Grievance Redressal Cell. Her research aligns with departmental focuses including image processing, data mining, data science, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, fostering research and innovation among faculty and students.
