Rebecca Redmond is the Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Health Science (Health and Lifestyle) within the National Centre for Naturopathic Medicine in the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University, based at the Lismore campus. Appointed as a Teaching Academic at the centre in 2021, she contributes significantly to teaching and research in naturopathic medicine. As a qualified naturopath holding a PhD from the University of Technology Sydney, Redmond is actively involved in the Harvest to Health research cluster at the university. Her career focuses on advancing evidence-based practices in complementary medicine, including supervision roles such as co-supervisor for honours projects on services for women after pregnancy loss. She has also volunteered with the World Naturopathic Federation, supporting global naturopathic initiatives.
Redmond's research specializations centre on naturopathic approaches to women's health, with a particular emphasis on endometriosis management, postpartum care, preconception and perinatal support, and the integration of traditional knowledge into modern practice. Her PhD research is devoted to women's health, specifically endometriosis and pregnancy loss. Notable contributions include leading a project with the University of Technology Sydney examining historical and traditional interpretations of endometriosis symptoms in traditional medicines. Key peer-reviewed publications co-authored by Redmond include 'International prevalence of consultation with a naturopathic practitioner: a systematic review and meta-analysis' (BMJ Open, 2022, cited by 13); 'Naturopathic knowledge and approaches to managing endometriosis: a cross-sectional survey of naturopaths with experience in endometriosis care' (2023, cited by 4); 'Policies, Guidelines, and Practices Supporting Women's Access to Postpartum Naturopathic Medicine: A Critical Global Scoping Review' (Journal of Clinical Medicine, 2023, cited by 52); 'Exploring Criteria for the Translation of Traditional Knowledge into Integrative Oncology Practice' (Journal of Integrative and Complementary Medicine, 2023, cited by 7); 'Naturopaths' engagement with preconception and perinatal care' (2024); and 'Mother's experiences of shame and compassion in the postpartum period' (2025). These works highlight her impact on building the evidence base for naturopathic interventions in reproductive health, influencing clinical practices and policy discussions in the field.
