About Preeti

Dr. Preeti Singh serves as Associate Professor and Teacher In-charge of the Department of Political Science at Vasanta College for Women, Rajghat, Varanasi, an institution admitted to the privileges of Banaras Hindu University. She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from Banaras Hindu University and joined the faculty on August 17, 2007.

Dr. Singh's teaching encompasses undergraduate and postgraduate courses in political science. For BA Semester 3, she teaches BSO-323 on the concept of mass society, concept and theories of elite, public opinion including its meaning, features and role, mass media with meaning, types and role, and the input-output approach. She also covers BSO-321 on Malviya’s political thought and Gandhi’s concept of Satyagraha. At the MA level, MP-205 includes the political thought of B.G. Tilak, Jinnah’s political thought, M.N. Roy’s political thought (Parts I and II), J.L. Nehru’s political thought (Parts I and II), and B.R. Ambedkar’s political thought (Parts I and II). She has prepared e-content for these courses available on the college's e-content portal.

In addition to her academic duties, Dr. Preeti Singh holds key administrative positions including Convener of the Women's Development Cell, aimed at promoting women's development and empowerment, and Chairperson of the Student's Grievance Redressal Committee. She served as Programme Coordinator for the NEP Orientation and Sensitization Programme to implement the National Education Policy 2020.

Her publications include the book 'Relocating Gender in Dharmasastras' published by Kalpaz Publications in 2013. She has also authored 'Civil Society, State and Democracy in India' in 2018 and 'Culture of Dialogue in Democracy: Revisiting Gandhi' in Gandhi Marg, Volume 43, Number 2, 2021. These works highlight her engagement with themes in gender, civil society, and Indian political philosophy.
