Yessy Arnold Perangin Angin is Vice-President of Education and Associate Professor in Business Innovation at Monash University Indonesia, Faculty of Business and Economics. He earned his PhD in Finance from the University of Adelaide in 2014, with a thesis titled 'How foreign trades affect domestic market liquidity: a transaction level analysis.' Additional qualifications include a Master of Commerce specializing in Finance from the University of Melbourne in 2006, with a thesis on 'How the Indonesia Stock Exchange Reacts to Information: A Speed of Adjustment Coefficients Study'; a Post Graduate Diploma in Finance from the University of Melbourne in 2005; a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Monash University Malaysia in 2018; and a Bachelor of Economics from Universitas Gadjah Mada in 2002. His career includes serving as Senior Lecturer and the first Head of the Department of Finance at Monash University Malaysia School of Business, as well as Research Associate at the University of Adelaide’s International Centre for Financial Services, where he conducted a study on customer satisfaction in the financial planning industry in Australia.
Perangin Angin's research specializations encompass market microstructure, foreign investors' behaviour and its impact on emerging markets, corporate finance, and personal finance. Key publications feature 'Gender, society, and financial inclusion: evidence from matrilineal and patriarchal societies' (Pacific Basin Finance Journal, 2025), 'Leadership in Action: Sustainable Finance Case Studies' (2024), 'Contribution of exchange traded funds in hedging crude oil price risk' (American Business Review, 2023), 'Does corporate governance matter for politically connected firms? Evidence from the regime change in Malaysia' (China Accounting and Finance Review, 2021), 'Short selling patterns in cross-listed stocks' (Global Finance Journal, 2021), and 'The impact of foreign trades on emerging market liquidity' (Pacific-Basin Finance Journal, 2016). He has received Blue Letters commendations for units with outstanding student feedback (2020, 2022), Outstanding Nominee for Supervisor of the Year Award (2018), Australian Leadership Award Scholarship (2009), Best Paper Award at the 1st International Conference of Business and Management Research (2006), Australian Development Scholarship (2004), and AIEJ Scholarship (2001). Perangin Angin teaches ACI5903 Resource allocation and business model performance, BFI5954 Financial approaches to calculating value and risk, and MGI5771 Process and operations management for innovation, and serves as chief investigator on projects including MY CFO CAP Malaysia CFO Collective Action Program on sustainable finance (2023-2024) and Sustainable Development and Climate Change Policy (2023-2024). He accepts PhD students.
