She obtained her PhD in Chemistry from Kent State University in 2022, an M.S. in Chemistry from Presidency University in Kolkata, India in 2015, and a B.S. in Chemistry from Siliguri College in 2013. Her doctoral research from 2017 to 2022 was conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Yaorong Zheng in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Kent State University. Previously, she held positions as a Research Associate in the Department of Chemistry at Presidency University from 2014 to 2015 and as an Editorial Assistant and Content Developer at Chhaya Prakashani Pvt. Ltd. from February 2016 to November 2016.
Datta's academic interests focus on medicinal inorganic chemistry, particularly the synthesis and development of platinum(IV) prodrugs and liposomal nanoparticle formulations to combat drug-resistant ovarian cancer. Select publications include "Engineering Liposomal Nanoparticles of Cholesterol Tethered Amphiphilic Pt(IV) Prodrugs with Prolonged Circulation Time in Blood" published in Dalton Transactions (2020), "Fatty Acid Like Pt(IV) Prodrugs Overcome Cisplatin Resistance in Ovarian Cancer by Harnessing CD36" in Chemical Communications (2020), and "A Spermine-Conjugated Lipophilic Pt(IV) Prodrug Designed to Eliminate Cancer Stem Cells in Ovarian Cancer" in Chemical Communications (2019). Manuscripts under preparation encompass Pt-Ru conjugates targeting drug-resistant ovarian cancer and optimization of Pt(IV) prodrug potency. She earned several honors during her graduate studies at Kent State University, such as Best Graduate Poster at the Graduate Research Symposium (2019 and 2022), People's Choice Award in the Three Minute Thesis competition (2019), Bush Teaching Award (2020), Spring 2021 Research Award from the Graduate Student Senate, and First Place in Poster Presentation (2022).
