Sr Nur Yusrina Binti Muhammad Hasmi is a Lecturer in the Department of Built Environment within the Faculty of Humanities and Health Sciences at Curtin University Malaysia. She additionally serves as Digital Content Coordinator for the faculty office. Bearing Web of Science researcher ID JXM-7865-2024, she transitioned to academia after eight years as a professional quantity surveyor, amassing varied experiences across the construction industry. Her affinity for the built environment was nurtured in her hometown of Penang, amid heritage structures exemplifying architectural prowess. She pursued studies in quantity surveying in the United Kingdom, equipping her to integrate industry insights with academic instruction, thereby bridging theoretical frameworks and practical applications in construction management and quantity surveying. This unique perspective enables her to guide students through authentic, real-world construction scenarios.
Nur Yusrina Muhammad Hasmi's research interests encompass the Built Environment and Building Information Modelling (BIM), areas she intends to explore further via a PhD. She spearheaded a teaching innovation initiative funded by the Curtin Malaysia Teaching Innovation Project 2024, titled 'Integration of Mentimeter into the Classroom: Using Mentimeter to Enhance Learning and Teaching in A Large Class and Small Class.' Her commitment to student enrichment is evident in her mentorship role in the Service-Learning Integrated Community Engagement (SLICE) programme, contributing as one of 22 mentors to its success. She has engaged in event organization, including the International Conference on Energy Transition and Exhibition (ICETE24) committee, sponsorship committee for GlobeCoRes 2024, and co-organization of the 2023 Leonardo Bridge Building Competition for Miri school students alongside Josfirin Uding Anak Rangga. Moreover, she mentored participants in TECH-Reach programmes and ICT skills workshops for secondary students, cultivating creativity, problem-solving, and digital competencies essential for future careers in the built environment.
