Nicole Kellow is an Associate Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food at Monash University, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, where she has worked since February 2016. She is a Senior Research Fellow and former NHMRC Early Career Research Fellow (2019-2022). An Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian (AdvAPD) and Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE), she brings over 18 years of clinical experience from rural and metropolitan hospitals in Australia and the United Kingdom, including serving as a DAFNE Educator from 2007 to 2014. Her academic qualifications include a Bachelor of Science (1996, Flinders University of South Australia), Master of Nutrition and Dietetics (1998, Deakin University), Graduate Certificate in Diabetes Education and Health Care (2009, Mayfield Education), and PhD (2017, Monash University and Baker IDI Heart and Diabetes Institute).
Kellow's research interests include the management of type 1, type 2, and gestational diabetes; the role of dietary advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) in endocrine and fertility disorders; and the relationship between diet and the gut microbiota. She received the NHMRC Postgraduate PhD Scholarship (2013-2016), the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Education for Teaching Excellence (2019, shared), and the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence (2019, shared) as part of the Monash Nutrition Indigenous Curriculum Working Group. Her key publications encompass systematic reviews such as 'Preconception lifestyle interventions for women—a systematic review and meta-analysis of intervention characteristics and behaviour change techniques' (Human Reproduction Update, 2026), 'Effect of nutritional interventions on the psychological symptoms of premenstrual syndrome in women of reproductive age: a systematic review of randomized controlled trials' (Nutrition Reviews, 2025), and 'Egg intake and cognitive function in healthy adults: A systematic review of the literature' (Journal of Nutrition, Health and Aging, 2025). She is Associate Editor of Nutrition Reviews (since 2025) and Adjunct Research Associate at Hudson Institute of Medical Research (since 2021).
