Neville G. Pinto is a distinguished professor in Engineering with a focus on chemical engineering and a prominent leader in higher education. Born in Mumbai, India, he earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He continued his studies at Penn State University, obtaining both his MS and PhD in chemical engineering. Pinto joined the faculty of the University of Cincinnati in 1985, teaching chemical engineering at the baccalaureate and graduate levels. His excellence in teaching earned him several awards, reflecting his commitment to student success and pedagogical innovation over nearly four decades.
Pinto's administrative career spans multiple institutions, demonstrating his broad influence in academia. He served as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Buffalo State College from 2011 to 2015. Subsequently, he held the position of Provost and Senior Vice President at the University of Louisville, where he also acted as president. In 2017, he returned to the University of Cincinnati as its 30th president, leading strategic initiatives like Next Lives Here to advance research, innovation, and partnerships. With over 35 years of experience as a teacher, researcher, and administrator, he has significantly impacted engineering education and university governance. In 2023, Pinto was inducted into the National Academy of Inventors Class of Fellows, recognizing his contributions to invention and academic leadership. His work continues to shape the field of engineering and higher education.
