Jiahui Nat Lim serves as the Field Technician in the Department of Zoology within the Division of Sciences at the University of Otago. In this capacity, he manages field equipment, coordinates logistics for research expeditions, and ensures safety compliance for fieldwork activities conducted by academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, and postgraduate students. He contributes to the department's educational programs by presenting workshops on fieldwork techniques, including the session on 20 August during Semester 2, 2024.
Lim obtained his Master of Science degree from the University of Otago in 2013. His thesis, supervised by Shinichi Nakagawa, is entitled 'Maternal sex allocation and trade-offs in offspring investment' and explores topics in evolutionary biology and behavioral ecology. He has co-authored peer-reviewed publications, including 'The fitness consequences of environmental sex reversal in fish: from characters to population extinction' (Functional Ecology, 2012, with A.M.N. Senior and S. Nakagawa) and 'New records for passerine introductions to the Otago Acclimatisation Region in New Zealand' (Notornis, 2014, with C.A. Munn Jr.). Between 2015 and 2016, he worked as a research technician in the Gemmell Lab at the University of Otago. His support is acknowledged across multiple doctoral and master's theses from the Zoology department for providing essential field resources and guidance.
