Molly McCormick earned her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology with distinction from the University of Otago in 2011. She completed her Master of Arts in Anthropology at the same university in 2022, with her thesis titled 'Midwives, Medicalization and Testing for Down Syndrome,' produced in the Department of Anthropology. During her postgraduate studies, she presented research entitled 'Laid Back: an Investigation into North American Study Abroad Students’ Experiences with Sex and Dating at the University of Otago, New Zealand' at the Cosmopolitan Anthropologies conference as an MA candidate. Additionally, she was selected as a finalist in the Division of Humanities postgraduate poster competition in Anthropology.
At the University of Otago, Molly McCormick serves as a part-time Teaching Fellow in the Social Anthropology programme, Department of Anthropology, School of Social Sciences, Humanities Division. She has contributed to teaching in the POPH192 Population Health course alongside colleagues such as Dr Julia Wilson and Dr Molly George. In the Research Division's Research Integrity Office, she holds the position of PBRF and Research Outputs Administrator, supporting research assessment and providing data for institutional reports, including those of the Sir John Walsh Research Institute for 2021-2022 and 2023. As Principal Contact for Sites: A Journal of Social Anthropology and Cultural Studies, she manages submissions, peer reviews, revisions, copyediting, and other journal operations, with recognition for her long-term commitment to the publication. She is based on the Dunedin campus and listed in the university staff directory.
