Meriem Hodge Doucette is an Associate Professor of Public Administration in the Division of Politics, Administration, and Justice at California State University, Fullerton, where she has served since 2015, advancing from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in 2021. She previously held the positions of Director of the Cal State DC Scholars program from 2021 to 2022 and Deputy Director from 2020 to 2021. Doucette earned her Ph.D. in Public Administration and Policy from the University of Georgia in 2015, an M.P.A. from the University of Georgia in 2011, and a B.A. in Political Science from Miami University in 2008. Before joining CSUF, she worked as a Research Analyst at the Chief Human Capital Officers’ Council, Office of Personnel Management from 2014 to 2015, and held research and teaching assistant roles at the University of Georgia. An Analyst Intern position at the Government Accountability Office further enriched her practical experience in public sector operations.
Doucette's research specializations include organizational theory, organizational behavior, organizational change and development, public management, leadership, ethics, administrative law, education policy, behavioral economics, labor economics, and American government. Her key publications feature “Dual Job Holding and the Gig Economy: Understanding Motivations for Participation in Amazon Mechanical Turk vs. Traditional Moonlighting” (The Southern Economic Journal, 2019, with W.D. Bradford), “Effect of a brief intervention on respondents’ subjective perception of time and discount rates” (Journal of Risk and Uncertainty, 2022, forthcoming, with W.D. Bradford), “Affluence, Risk, and Community Engagement: The Case of Ascon and Huntington Beach” (California Journal of Politics and Policy, 2019, with D. Adams and J. Tucker), and Ethics in Public Administration: Understanding Ethics, Corruption, and Public Policy (preliminary edition, 2018, with D. Adams). She has received honors such as the 2016 Veteran’s Professor of the Year, 2018 International Travel Grant, and 2018 Humanities & Social Sciences Summer Research Stipend. Doucette contributes to the field through editorial reviews for journals including Public Administration Review and Journal of Public and Nonprofit Affairs, committee service as Chair of the PA Awards Committee and on the Division Executive Committee and University Internship Committee, and public engagements like speaking at Women Leading Government events, Rancho Cucamonga Development Day, and moderating the OC Forum on the 2018 Election Recap.
