Dr. Melanie Murray is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Nursing at Murdoch University, serving as Academic Chair for Postgraduate courses, including the Master and Graduate Certificate of Health Care Management. She coordinates these programs and has taught units such as Leadership in Healthcare, Managing in the Health Care Environment, and Health Policy in the Australian Setting. Murray joined Murdoch University as a Lecturer in November 2016, progressing to Senior Lecturer. Her prior roles include Senior Lecturer at Edith Cowan University's School of Nursing and Midwifery from June 2021 to September 2022, and Sessional Tutor there from February 2016 to May 2017. She earned her PhD in 2019 from Edith Cowan University with the thesis titled 'Linking patient safety to clinical practice: the insight of new graduate registered nurses.' Additional qualifications include a Master of Nursing from Charles Sturt University (2011-2012), Graduate Diploma in Acute Care Nursing from the University of Adelaide (2008-2009), and Bachelor of Nursing Science.
Murray's research focuses on patient safety, quality and safety in nursing, new graduate registered nurses' transition to practice, nursing leadership, clinical deterioration, nurse manager development, mixed-gender accommodation, and culturally appropriate mental health care.
