Nasim's research spans complex systems, artificial intelligence, social network analysis, human-centric cybersecurity, and health analytics, with a current emphasis on detecting fake news and misinformation, modeling social media polarization and AI-driven influence, predicting population-level events, and enhancing executive decision-making through complex systems modeling. As Lead Chief Investigator, she has attracted AU$1.26 million in funding, contributing to a total of AU$1.64 million from agencies including DFG, DAAD, Western Australia's Department of Jobs, Tourism and Industries, and the UK National Institute of Health. Her scholarly output includes 52 publications, such as "Can LLMAgents Maintain a Persona in Discourse?" (2025), "Competing LLM Agents in a Non-Cooperative Game of Opinion Polarisation" (2025), "Localization Lens for Improving Medical Vision-Language Models" (2026), "The (Mis)Information Game: A social media simulator" (2024), and "Investigating Language Use by Polarised Groups on Twitter: A Case Study of the Bushfires" (2023). Recognized with the Women in Research Fellowship (2025), WiTWA Shining Star in AI, Robotics and Data Analytics (2023), Anne Penfold Street Award (2023), and Finalist in the Australian Defence Industry Awards (2025), Nasim actively engages in public outreach through TEDxKings Park (2024), Women in Data Science (2023), and AI for Social Good events.
