Marsha Griggs is an Associate Professor of Law at Saint Louis University School of Law, joining the faculty as a full-time professor in July 2023. Prior to this appointment, she served as an associate professor at Washburn University School of Law, where she directed the academic enrichment and bar readiness programs. Griggs brings extensive practical experience, having practiced commercial litigation after earning her J.D. from the University of Notre Dame Law School. She also holds a B.S. from Northwestern University and an M.P.P. from the University of Texas at Dallas. Admitted to practice in Colorado and Texas, she was inducted into the Texas Jury Verdicts Hall of Fame in 2014 for her litigation achievements.
An outspoken advocate for access to the legal profession and equitable practices in regulatory licensing, Griggs' scholarship critically examines bar licensure, professional responsibility, and regulatory reforms. Her notable publications include "Bar Examination: A Verb, Not a Noun" (2025), "Outsourcing Self-Regulation" (Washington & Lee Law Review, 2023), "Fix or Fox: Where Do We Go from Here?" (2022), "Race, Rules, and Disregarded Reality" (2021), "An Epic Fail" (Howard Law Journal, 2020), and "Building a Better Bar Exam" (Texas A&M Law Review). She co-authored influential pieces such as "The Bar Exam and the COVID-19 Pandemic: The Need for Immediate Action" (2020) and "Diploma Privilege and the Constitution" (2020). Her work has been published in leading journals including the Ohio State Law Journal, SMU Law Review Forum, and Northwestern Law Review of Note. Griggs chairs the Bar Advocacy Committee for the Association of Academic Support Educators (AASE), which introduced Best Practices for Online Bar Exam Administration, and serves on the executive boards for the AALS Section on Academic Support and the Society of American Law Teachers (SALT). In 2021, she received the Trailblazer Award from the AALS Section on Academic Support. She teaches Legal Profession, Real Property, and Evidence at SLU Law.
