Marina Karchava serves as Associate Professor and Vice Rector in Academic Affairs at the Agricultural University of Georgia, where she contributes to defining educational policy, overseeing university authorization and accreditation processes, and ensuring the seamless implementation of academic programs. She concurrently holds the position of Vice Rector in Academic Affairs at Tbilisi Free University. With 35 years of pedagogical experience, she is an Associate Professor in Operations Management and Management Sciences at Tbilisi Free University, teaching courses such as Operations Management at the master's level and Service Management at both master's and bachelor's levels. Karchava graduated with distinction from I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Cybernetics (1975-1980), obtaining a degree in Mathematics. She completed a doctoral program in Applied Mathematics focusing on Decision-Making Systems at the Institute of Computational Mathematics (1991-1993), along with doctoral programs in pedagogy and operations management. In 2006, she participated in the Participant-Oriented Teaching Colloquium at Harvard Business School.
Prior to her involvement in business education, Karchava worked as a senior research fellow at the Institute of Computational Mathematics, participating in projects developing decision support systems. Since 1992, she has been engaged in business education in Georgia, serving as Vice Rector at ESM-Tbilisi, the country's first private business school, which is now part of Tbilisi Free University. From 2012 to 2014, she was a member of the Board of Advisors at KAZNEU, a private university in Kazakhstan. Between 2015 and 2021, she served as an expert on higher education reforms for the Erasmus+ program in Georgia. Her professional interests include decision science, operations management, and the methodology and content of business education. She has published articles and textbooks in her field.
