Manuel González de la Rosa is a Full Professor in the Department of Dirección de Empresas e Historia Económica within the Faculty of Economics, Business and Tourism at the Universidad de La Laguna. He obtained his Doctorate from the Universidad de La Laguna in 2013, with a thesis entitled "Logística y distribución comercial: modelos de gestión de inventarios con patrón de demanda potencial," supervised by Dr. Joaquín Sicilia Rodríguez and Dr. Isabel Montero Muradas. In addition to his academic role, he holds key administrative positions, including Advisor to the Rector on Strategic Planning for Social Responsibility and Director of the Secretariado de Cátedras Institucionales y de Empresa, Responsabilidad Social. He is affiliated with the IUDE research institute and participates in the EFIVENCOM (Eficiencia y Ventaja Competitiva) and IO (Investigación Operativa) research groups.
His research specializes in business management, with a focus on inventory systems, sustainable operations, and human resource practices in the hospitality industry. Notable contributions include developing optimal inventory policies for items with time-varying and price-dependent demand, backlogging, and carbon emission considerations. Key publications feature "Effects of high-performance work systems (HPWS) on hospitality employees’ outcomes through their organizational commitment, motivation, and job satisfaction" (Sustainability, 2021), cited 250 times; "Hospitality diversity management and job satisfaction: The mediating role of organizational commitment across individual differences" (International Journal of Hospitality Management, 2020), with 157 citations; "An inventory model for deteriorating items with shortages and time-varying demand" (International Journal of Production Economics, 2014), 101 citations; "The impact of employee-oriented CSR on quality of life: Evidence from the hospitality industry" (Tourism Management, 2023), 85 citations; and "A sustainable inventory model for deteriorating items with power demand and full backlogging under a carbon emission tax" (International Journal of Production Economics, 2024).
