Lynn Segovia, DNP, RNC-MNN, serves as Assistant Professor of Nursing and Associate Dean of Pre-Licensure Nursing Programs at Capital University School of Nursing. She oversees the Traditional Undergraduate Program (TUP) and Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ABSN) programs, guiding students through rigorous pre-licensure curricula. Holding a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and certification as a Registered Nurse in Maternal Newborn Nursing, Segovia brings specialized clinical knowledge to her teaching and administrative roles. As an instructor, she co-teaches N365 Families in Transition alongside Maria Satre, M.S.N. Through Capital University's Project Indigo initiative, which provides iPads, Apple Pencils, and tailored apps, she enhances classroom engagement with tools like Nearpod for interactive presentations, polling, and immediate feedback on student comprehension. In nursing simulations, Segovia and Satre developed a sample electronic medical record in OneNote, inspired by Epic systems, enabling real-time collaborative documentation of vital signs, lab results, and patient data to prepare students for clinical environments.
Segovia advances nursing education through active scholarship and technology adoption. She represents Nursing faculty on Capital University's AI Team for Spring 2025, contributing to AI guidebook development and integration strategies. In October 2024, collaborating with Maria Satre and Tian Luo from Old Dominion University's Darden College of Education, she presented the interdisciplinary phenomenological study 'Nursing Faculty Perceptions of Immersive Virtual Reality Simulation' at the Association of Educational Communications and Technology International Convention. They also coordinated a technology showcase with the Education in Health Professions special interest group, highlighting simulation-based learning, instructional design, and emerging trends, which generated partnership inquiries from other institutions. In March 2025, Segovia, Jean Scholz Mellum, Grace Sung, and students Jordyn Hoffman and Usman Akhtar presented 'Essential Informatics Competencies Required of BSN Students' at the Ohio League for Nursing Education Summit, addressing informatics assessment in alignment with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's 2021 competency-based education framework.
