Lynda Menzies serves as a Lecturer (Education-Focussed) in the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash Health, part of the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences at Monash University. She is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian with a Bachelor of Health Science (Nutrition & Dietetics) completed in 2011 and a Master of Health Professions Education from Monash University. In 2023, she commenced her Doctorate by Research in Health Professions Education through the Medicine Nursing and Health Sciences Education Portfolio. Her PhD project, affiliated with the Monash Centre for Scholarship in Health Education, investigates 'The influence of social learning and networks on clinical educators undertaking postgraduate study.' Her research interests encompass the development of professional identity across the student and clinician continuums, strategies for better preparing new graduates for future professional demands, and the ongoing assessment and professional development of clinicians.
Prior to her academic role, Menzies worked as a Clinical Dietitian and Acting Nutrition & Dietetics Clinical Educator at Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service. In this capacity, she coordinated student placements, developed training initiatives for students and staff, and delivered interdisciplinary education. As a Clinical Educator, she led the redevelopment of competency assessment frameworks and professional development programs for dietitians and nutrition assistants, while providing support to students and supervisors during placements and workplace-based assessments. At Monash University, she acts as Chief Examiner and Unit Coordinator for HPE5100: Foundations of Health Professions Education and contributes to HPE5200: Health Professions and Simulation Education in Practice. She is a member of the Australia and New Zealand Association for Health Professional Educators (ANZAHPE), where she engages in festivals, online events, and networking to enhance her educator skills. Early in her career, she presented a conference poster titled 'Assessing Dietetic Services and the Nutritional Needs for Patients on the Acute' in 2012.
