Dr. Louise Harvey is a Senior Lecturer at Griffith Film School within Griffith University's Arts, Education and Law group, where she has served as a full-time lecturer since 2009. A 3D artist and filmmaker, she has integrated animation production, research, and teaching since 2001. Harvey holds a Doctor of Visual Arts majoring in 3D animation from Griffith University (2006) and a Bachelor of Visual Arts with Honours in Animation from the same university (2003). Prior to academia, she was VFX coordinator for the films Australia (Bazmark Productions, Sydney, 2008) and Where the Wild Things Are (Iloura, Melbourne, 2007), and Previs lead for the animated TV series Animalia (Warner Bros Roadshow Studios, Gold Coast, 2006-2007).
Harvey teaches and coordinates CGI courses including 3D modelling and environments, post-production, motion capture, Foundations of Post-Production and Motion Graphics (1305GFS), Intermediate Post-Production (2305GFS), and Advanced Post-Production (3304GFS). Her research explores human creativity in developing unique artistic ideas to enhance personal and student creativity, alongside efficient production methods for 3D animation and digital art using tools such as Maya (including MASH), After Effects, RedGiant Trapcode Suite, MotionBuilder, Vicon Shogun, Mudbox, Corel Painter, Allegorithmic Substance tools, Filter Forge, DAZ Studio, Apophysis, and Mandelbulb 3D. Key contributions include 3D animation and VFX for a Griffith filmmaker selected for the Venice festival (2022), co-writing An Ostrich Told Me the World is Fake and I Think I Believe It (2021), co-authoring "Virtual Avatars as a Tool for Audience Engagement" (ACM, 2019), ISHQ: Divine Music for the Animated Imagery of Islam (2022), Ascendance: An Experiment in Colour Music for VR, and conceiving pioneering films earning record award nominations for Griffith Film School (2017). She has judged the ATOM Awards (2019, 2020, 2022).
