Liz Bell serves as a Lecturer in the Curtin School of Allied Health within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. She is based at the Curtin Perth campus in Building 401, Allied Health, Room 351, where she contributes to the academic and teaching efforts in health sciences education. Her role is associated with the School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science, reflecting her involvement in physiotherapy-related teaching and activities. Liz Bell has demonstrated commitment to innovative pedagogy by leading the Communication in Physiotherapy unit. In 2020, as detailed in the School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science newsletter, she organized a practical learning experience in which eight fourth-year physiotherapy students volunteered to act as simulated patients. This initiative provided second-year students with authentic opportunities to practice clinical communication skills in a controlled environment, enhancing their preparedness for real-world placements.
Liz Bell's contributions extend to collaborative research and grant-funded projects. She was a key member of the project team for a scoping review examining university support for communication skills in clinical placements for culturally and linguistically diverse students, supported by a Curtin University School of Allied Health seed grant in 2020. The resulting publication appeared in Nurse Education Today in 2024. Additionally, she is the corresponding author for the 2025 study 'Physiotherapy of the Trunk Related to Sitting Function After Stroke: A Delphi Study,' published in Clinical Rehabilitation, which gathered expert consensus on trunk-focused physiotherapy interventions to improve sitting function post-stroke. Liz Bell has also participated in Curtin University's Teaching and Learning Grants, working alongside colleagues like Trudi Fischer in Health Sciences on initiatives for assessing and promoting student capabilities. Her email is listed as the professional contact on official staff profiles.
