Dr. Linda Ban is a Lecturer in Physiology (Teaching & Leadership) at Macquarie Medical School within the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Human Sciences at Macquarie University, where she also serves as the Physiology Discipline Lead in the Doctor of Medicine program. Holding a PhD in Medicine from the University of Sydney, her doctoral research focused on the pathophysiology of liver disease progression in the context of obesity and diabetes. She further enhanced her educational qualifications with a Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), underscoring her dedication to pedagogical excellence.
Since joining Macquarie University in late 2022, Dr. Ban has been actively engaged in medical education, convening several foundational units for health sciences and medical students. These include MHHS1002 – Human Structure and Function, MEDI2102 – Renal, Reproductive and Endocrine Systems, MEDI2103 – Alimentary System, Nutrition and Metabolism, and MEDI2100 – Musculoskeletal System. Her teaching responsibilities emphasize the anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry of key human systems, with consultations available by appointment at Level 1, 75 Talavera Road. Currently, her research centers on accessible practices in higher education, including presentations such as 'Applying a trauma-informed matrix to enhance teaching and learning' at the HERDSA 2024 conference. Prior to her current position, she worked as a casual academic at the University of Tasmania and contributed to research during her PhD at the University of Sydney.
