KT Huckabee serves as Teaching Professor of Dance and Coordinator of Performing Arts at Pennsylvania State University Altoona. She joined the campus in 1998, shortly after its transition to a four-year institution, to lead the dance program. Huckabee holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in dance from East Carolina University, a Master of Fine Arts in dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and certification in Laban Movement Analysis from the Laban/Bartenieff Institute in New York City. Her teaching encompasses courses such as Contemporary Movement Lab I, II, and III; Introduction to Bartenieff Fundamentals; Introduction to Laban Movement Analysis; Tap; and Anatomy for the Performer, designed for students at all experience levels to foster self-awareness, creativity, and technical skill in dance.
In her tenure, Huckabee founded the Allied Motion Dance Company in 1998, a collaborative professional ensemble featuring Penn State Altoona dancers alongside community members and local artists from various disciplines including music, poetry, theatre, and visual arts. The company built a diverse repertory before a hiatus in 2008 and was reformed by Huckabee in 2019 with an inclusive mission to build community through movement, offering opportunities to underrepresented dancers and reviving the Children’s Dance Theatre Workshop in partnership with ArtsAltoona. She also established the Ivyside Dance Ensemble within the Integrative Arts major, directing semester performances that showcase modern, jazz, ballet, and tap choreography, including her own works such as those in the 2019 relaunch concert "Back at Last." Through these endeavors, Huckabee has profoundly shaped dance education, performance, and outreach at Penn State Altoona, emphasizing dance as a universal language that transcends barriers.
