Kevin Bogenschutz, DMS, PA-C, is an Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Butler University. He joined the full-time faculty in the PA Program in the fall of 2023, following six years as a clinical instructor for the program. Bogenschutz earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Dayton in 2015, Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Butler University in 2017, and Doctor of Medical Science from Butler University in 2022. His clinical career spans nearly eight years as a physician assistant with expertise in family medicine and pulmonology. He served as senior clinic director at Pike Medical Consultants in Indianapolis, Indiana, and as provider coordinator for the Northwest Outreach Ministries Health Clinic rotation site affiliated with Butler's PA Program. Additionally, he holds the role of clinical director at Near West Free Clinic.
Bogenschutz's research and academic interests center on advancing physician assistant education through innovative pedagogies and evaluation methods. His recent work explores whether preceptor evaluations can predict PA student performance, competency milestones in didactic curricula, and the use of customized chatbot tools to promote active learning. He has authored or co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, including "Do Preceptor Evaluations Predict Physician Assistant Student Performance?" (2025), "Competency Milestones in a Didactic Curriculum" (2025), "Promoting Active Learning With a Customized Chatbot Tool" (with Jaclyn Demeter and others, 2025), "Student Review on Creating an Effective Clinical Rotation" (2023), "Harmony in Healthcare" (2025), "Managing Neonatal Hyperbilirubinemia: An Interprofessional Simulation for Physician Assistant Students" (with Andrew Chastain and others), and "Diagnosis and Management of Axial Spondyloarthritis" (with Jaclyn Demeter and Andrew Chastain, 2025). These contributions underscore his dedication to enhancing clinical training, interprofessional collaboration, and educational outcomes in the field of medicine, particularly physician assistant studies.
