Kathryn Elliott serves as Chair, Professor of the Practice of Entrepreneurship, and Director of Entrepreneurship at High Point University’s David S. Congdon School of Entrepreneurship. Hired in August 2014 as Assistant Professor of the Practice of Entrepreneurship and Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship, she brings extensive experience in supporting entrepreneurs and small businesses. Previously, Elliott was Entrepreneur Connection Vice President for the Greensboro Partnership and spent 17 years at the Greensboro Chamber of Commerce, rising to Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Small Business. She has taught as an adjunct at the University of North Carolina Greensboro Bryan School of Business, Bennett College, Duke University Non-Profit Certificate Program, and Guilford Technical Community College small business classes. Her widespread network of business contacts benefits HPU entrepreneurship students. Prior to academia, she served five years as a Radioman in the U.S. Navy.
Elliott holds a Master of Entrepreneurship from Western Carolina University with a 4.0 GPA and Beta Gamma Sigma distinction, a B.S. in Human Resources Management from Excelsior College, and a B.B.A. in Business Management from Lamar University. She teaches Entrepreneurial Creativity and Feasibility, Family Business Management, Business Modeling, Planning, Strategy, and Growth, and Social Entrepreneurship. As Director, she leads Center programs, cultivates student entrepreneurs, encourages faculty involvement, recruits mentors, and performs community outreach. Elliott co-advises the Entrepreneurs’ Club with students from various majors and has served on HPU’s Curriculum Committee and Service Learning. Her community roles include the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship Board of Directors, PTP NEXT Advisory Board, City of Greensboro Minority/Women Business Enterprise Program Advisory Council, Guilford Technical Community College Small Business Center Advisory Council, and judging the UNCG Campus Entrepreneur Business competition annually. She is an EnActUs Sam Walton Fellow and graduate of Leadership Greensboro.
