June Atkinson is a Senior Analyst in the Department of Public Health at the University of Otago, Wellington. She serves as the Datalab Manager for the Integrated Data Research Group and contributes to the Burden of Disease Epidemiology, Equity and Cost-Effectiveness (BODE³) Programme as well as the Suicide and Mental Health Research Group. Her expertise encompasses statistical programming and graphics, particularly using SAS, data management, and the development of generalisable programs and systems. Atkinson has been instrumental in various projects under the Health Inequalities Research Programme (HIRP), including extensive data linkage and analyses for the New Zealand Census Mortality Study (NZCMS) and CancerTrends. She has also participated in the Healthier Lives National Science Challenge through the Virtual Health Information Network (VHIN) project, which employs a 'big data' approach to healthcare. Additional contributions include work on Neighbourhoods and Health, SoFIE-Health, and serving on the NZDep team that produced NZDep2006 as part of the Social Indicators study. She provides SAS advisory services to colleagues within the department and externally.
