Dr. Yen Jun Wong is a registered pharmacist with the Pharmacy Board of Malaysia and a lecturer at the School of Pharmacy, Monash University Malaysia. She obtained her PhD in Pharmacy Practice from Monash University Malaysia and graduated with First Class Honours in her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Monash University Australia. Prior to her academic career, she served as a provisionally registered pharmacist at Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar Seremban and as a fully registered pharmacist at Klinik Kesihatan Kuala Pilah. Her research centers on health systems research, evidence synthesis, pharmacy practice, primary care services, infectious diseases, women’s health, and mental health, with a current focus on the public health impact of tuberculosis and Parkinson’s Disease on the healthcare system. She coordinates units such as PHR3041 Comprehensive care: Blood, brain and cancers.
Yen Jun has extensive collaborations with organizations including the Malaysian Pharmacists Society, where she was Honorary Secretary for the Negeri Sembilan branch from 2021 to 2023, and the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR), serving as Honorary Secretary for the Monash University Malaysia Student Chapter from 2019 to 2022. A member of Persatuan Farmasi Malaysia since 2017, she is also an advocate for Women in Public Health and a Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) alumna. She was awarded a grant from the US Mission to ASEAN to run a nutrition awareness programme for young women from underprivileged communities in Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar, and Singapore. Awards include the 2021 Vice-Chancellor’s Special Team Commendation Award for Diversity and Inclusion, School Research Grant: Pharmacy Practice Grant (2024), School Research Grant SEED Grant (2023), and Staff Publication Award 2023. Key publications comprise 'Breastfeeding-Friendly Community Pharmacists to Support Mothers for Successful Lactation and Combating Anxiety and Depression: A Protocol of Pilot-Testing Study in Malaysia' (2024), 'Global, regional, and national burden of HIV/AIDS, 1990–2021, and forecasts to 2050' (2024), 'Global, regional, and national burden of stroke and its risk factors, 1990–2021' (2024), 'Global burden and strength of evidence for 88 risk factors' (2024), and 'Global burden of 288 causes of death and life expectancy decomposition' (2024). She is Chief Investigator for the 'Development and Validation of Chronic Kidney Disease Predictive Model for the Malaysian Population' (2024–2026) and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, and 10, including media pieces on tuberculosis eradication.
