Judith Needham is a Senior Lecturer and Professional Practice Director in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Griffith University, part of Griffith Health. She earned a Doctor of Education (EdD), Master of Nursing (Management), Bachelor of Nursing, and holds registrations as a registered nurse (RN) and registered midwife (RM). Her career at Griffith University, dating back to at least 2012, centers on coordinating professional practice and managing clinical placements for undergraduate nursing students at the Logan Campus.
Her academic interests and research focus on nurse-led wound care for chronic conditions, including client and family experiences and community-based outcomes; volunteering in dementia care in hospitals, aged care, and residential settings; clinical facilitation of undergraduate nurses; placements in specialty areas such as prison healthcare and during disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic; near-peer teaching; and student medication calculation proficiency. Key publications include "The client and family experience of attending a nurse-led clinic for chronic wounds" (2023, co-authored with A. Needham has contributed to funded research, such as the 2018 Australasian Council of Deans of Nursing grant evaluating near-peer learning and National Association for Field Experience Administrators projects on work-integrated learning amid COVID-19. She serves on the editorial team for WIL in Practice and has participated in committees defining research priorities for nursing clinical placements, enhancing nursing education and practice integration.
