Dr. Joshua D. Jensen is the Dean of the College of Business and Professor of Business at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. He earned a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University in 2008, a Master of Business Administration from Northwest Nazarene University in 2017, a Master of Public Administration from California State University, Northridge in 2000, a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Management from the University of La Verne in 1999, and an Associate of Arts in Speech Communication from Los Angeles Valley College in 1997. Certified as a Senior Certified Professional by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-SCP), Jensen brings extensive executive experience from roles such as Deputy Superintendent and Chief Business Officer at Nampa School District (2005-2013), where he oversaw academic services, business operations, risk management, collective bargaining, and major software implementations, and Director of Human Resources and Finance at Banner Health System's Heritage Place (2001-2005), managing a $7 million annual budget, merit pay programs, and recruitment strategies. Joining NNU in 2014 as Title III Activity Director and Instructional Designer, he advanced to Director of Graduate Studies in the College of Business (2019-2022), developing programs including the Master of Accountancy and Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics, before assuming the deanship in June 2022. In this role, he provides strategic leadership for business programs, faculty development, accreditation processes with ACBSP, budgeting, and partnerships with the business community. Since 2013, he has operated J. Jensen Group, offering leadership consulting, HR strategic planning, legal counsel, and training in tools like MBTI and StrengthsFinder.
Jensen is a prolific author and scholar whose works focus on management, leadership, and global business dynamics. Key publications include the book Management Failures: Lessons Learned Through Case Study (2022, with S.L. Dunn and W.J. Russell); the five-volume Manage with Flair series covering strategic management, global strategy, management decision making, boards of directors, and smart business sense (2020-2021, with S.L. Dunn); and Navigating Religious Diversity in the Global Business Environment (2019, with S.L. Dunn and R.R. Galloway). His peer-reviewed articles, published in the International Journal of Business Administration and Journal of International Management Studies, feature Risk in Leadership and Management: Risk-Seeking vs. Risk Averse (2021, with S.L.
