Joseph Ruhland is the Department Chair and Professor in the Department of Finance at Georgia Southern University. He is a Professor of risk management and insurance. Ruhland earned his B.B.A. in Risk Management and Insurance/Finance, Investment and Banking from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1997 and his Ph.D. in Risk Management and Insurance from the University of Georgia in 2006. Prior to his academic career, he worked as an employee benefits consultant in Chicago for Hewitt Associates, Aon Consulting, and in private practice. His research areas of interest include asymmetric information, political risk, corporate governance, and financial planning.
Ruhland's published research appears in the Journal of Risk and Insurance, Journal of Insurance Issues, and Journal of Insurance Regulation.
