Jonathan Boyd is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration in the School of Government and International Affairs at Kennesaw State University, contributing to the Political Science discipline through his work in public policy and administration. He earned a joint Ph.D. in public policy from Georgia State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Kennesaw State University, he studied philosophy and economics at Eastern Kentucky University and served as a Visiting Assistant Professor at Georgia State University. Throughout his career, Boyd has taught courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, encompassing public administration, research methods, statistics, evaluation, policy analysis, and public management.
Boyd's research focuses on higher education policy, veteran issues, pay gaps for women and minorities, and representation in the public sector workforce. His areas of expertise include pay equity, representation, veterans, and higher education policy. He teaches specific courses such as Research Methods, Program Evaluation, Policy Analysis, Advanced Research Methods, and the MPA Capstone Seminar. Key publications co-authored by Boyd include "Progress toward pay equity in state governments?" in Public Administration Review (2018, with G. B. Lewis and R. Pathak) and "Progress Toward Increasing Women’s and Minorities’ Access to Top State Government Jobs?" in Public Personnel Management (2022, with G. Lewis and R. Pathak). Boyd holds an additional affiliation with Heterodox Academy.
