Jennifer S. Dail, PhD, is a Professor of English Education and Assistant Chair of the Department of English at Kennesaw State University, working primarily with graduate students in Education. She directs the Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project, a professional development site in partnership with the university since 1994. Dail joined the KSU English Education faculty in 2006 after four years as a middle and high school English Language Arts teacher and three years as a college professor. She served as president of the Georgia Council of Teachers of English and has led initiatives such as a state-level partnership between the Georgia Department of Education, the Kennesaw Mountain Writing Project, and teacher leaders at five schools to support professional learning projects.
Dail's research focuses on digital literacies and equity, young adult literature, teacher professional development, intersections of science and literacy, digital composing for student engagement with literature, digital media and technology for educators, and teacher mentorship. She has published multiple articles and book chapters in these areas. Her co-edited books include Toward a More Visual Literacy: Shifting the Paradigm with Digital Tools and Young Adult Literature (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018), which won the 2019 Initiative for 21st Century Literacies Research Divergent Award; Young Adult Literature and the Digital World: Textual Engagement through Visual Literacy (Rowman & Littlefield, 2018); Studying Gaming Literacies: Theories to Inform Classroom Practice (Brill | Sense, 2020); and Playing with Teaching: Considerations for Implementing Gaming Literacies in the Classroom (Brill | Sense, 2020). She co-authored "Teacher Empowerment through Partnerships: A Sustaining Model of Professional Development" in the March 2018 issue of English Journal.
