Jenn Perez is a Child Development Professor and instructional faculty member in the Child Development and Teacher Education Department at Santa Rosa Junior College. She is based at the Robert A. Call Child Development Center and holds a B.S. in Child Development and an M.S.W. in Social Work, both earned from California State University, Fresno. Hailing from the high desert of the Southwest with maternal lineage tracing to the Pueblo of Isleta, Perez brings a distinctive cultural perspective to her work in early childhood education. She actively holds space for principles of restorative justice, family preservation, and historical resilience in her teaching and institutional involvement.
Perez's career history includes extensive experience throughout California in early care and education programs, as well as treatment programs serving women, infants, and children. She has worked in Head Start and Early Head Start Home Base programs, contributing to foundational support for young families. At Santa Rosa Junior College, she serves as a generalist faculty member teaching a variety of Child Development courses, including CHLD 10: Child Growth and Development in multiple sections across fall and spring semesters, and CHLD 66: Early Childhood Care and Education Practicum, which features structured lecture hours, practicum lab requirements, and specialized formats such as the Sonoma County Early Childhood Education Apprenticeship cohort. Her courses incorporate online components, face-to-face meetings, and practical experiences scheduled on specific dates.
