Jason Wooten serves as Professor of Kinesiology in the Health Science faculty at Tarrant County College District Office. With more than 20 years of experience in higher education, he has contributed extensively to the Physical and Health Education department across various campuses, including the Southeast Campus, Trinity River Campus, and Northeast Campus. Wooten's career at Tarrant County College began as an instructor of health and physical education in 2006 and progressed to assistant professor of physical education by 2007, later recognized as HPE assistant professor in 2009 and professor of kinesiology by 2022.
His academic background includes a Doctor of Philosophy in Public Health Education and Promotion from Texas Woman's University (2003–2009), a Master of Science in Kinesiology from Texas Christian University (1992–1994), and a Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology from The University of Texas at Arlington (1987–1992). Wooten has actively engaged students through educational seminars and campus activities. In February 2008, he presented the seminar 'Self Image—The Fantasy and the Reality' addressing body image concerns. He authored the opinion piece 'Society creating image woes' published in The Collegian on February 14, 2007, discussing societal influences on self-perception. Additionally, he supported intramural sports programs, such as flag football at the Trinity River Campus in 2009, and participated in welcome week events. Wooten appeared in the 2012 NISOD conference program as Assistant Professor of Health/Physical Education. His involvement continued into recent years, with comments on campus resilience during storms and personal experiences during COVID-19 quarantines featured in student publications.
