Professor Jacqueline Bloomfield is a Professor of Nursing Education within the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney, affiliated with the Susan Wakil School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is a Registered Nurse holding a Bachelor of Nursing (BN), Master of Nursing (MN), Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery from the University of Technology Sydney (PGDip Midwifery UTS), Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Education (PGDip Healthcare Ed), and a PhD from the University of London. With over 20 years of experience in nursing and nursing education, her career includes significant leadership roles such as Director of International Programs at Sydney Nursing School, former Director of Offshore Programs (Singapore), and IPL Lead for Collaborative Health Education Sydney. She is also a member of the Sydney Southeast Asia Centre and contributes to interprofessional learning initiatives within the faculty.
Professor Bloomfield's academic interests focus on healthcare professions education, interprofessional education, patient safety, clinical skills education, nursing workforce development, and supportive care for patients. She has produced over 97 publications, accumulating more than 2,000 citations. Notable works include 'Enhancing student communication during end-of-life care: a pilot study' (2015), 'Social Prescribing for Individuals Living with Mental Illness in the Community' (2021), 'Detecting and managing cognitive impairment in cardiac rehabilitation: a survey of current practices and attitudes' (2024), 'A Multimodal Learning Approach in an Undergraduate Nursing Osmosis Osmoregulation Laboratory Activity' (2024), and recent editorials such as 'Insights in Healthcare Professions Education: 2024' and 'Health professions education at a time of triple planetary crises' (2025). She serves in editorial capacities, including as an editor for the Australian Journal of Clinical Nursing, and her research impacts nursing education, clinical practice, and international programs.
