About Isabelle

Isabelle Boisvert is Associate Professor in Audiology in the Sydney School of Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine and Health, at the University of Sydney. She completed her PhD at Macquarie University in 2013, Master of Clinical Audiology at Université de Montréal in 2004, along with MAudSA and MPA qualifications. Her career includes academic appointments at the University of Sydney, where she serves as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer, and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow position at Macquarie University. As Audiology Lead at the University of Sydney SPEECH Clinic, she oversees audiology services within a multidisciplinary clinical setting focused on speech and hearing. She contributes to the Centre for Disability Research and Policy, addressing topics such as dual sensory impairment.

Boisvert's research focuses on adult cochlear implantation outcomes, auditory training effectiveness, patient-centered care in hearing health services, perceived listening ability in daily life for those with hearing loss, and health and social service utilization before and after cochlear implantation. Her work explores behavioral and attitudinal responses to cochlear implantation from patient and professional perspectives, barriers and facilitators to uptake in Australia and the UK, and communication, academic, and social outcomes for childhood cancer survivors. Key publications include 'Cochlear implantation outcomes in adults: A scoping review' (PLoS ONE, 2020), 'Effectiveness of Computer-Based Auditory Training for Adult Cochlear Implant Users: A Nonrandomized Controlled Trial' (Trends in Hearing, 2021), 'Adults' cochlear implant journeys through care: a qualitative study' (BMC Health Services Research, 2020), 'Communication, academic and social outcomes of childhood cancer survivors: A systematic review' (Pediatric Blood & Cancer, 2023), and 'Health and social services utilisation of adults with a cochlear implant: evidence from a national person-level integrated data asset in Australia' (BMC Health Services Research, 2025). She supervises PhD and Honours students on topics related to hearing loss and disability.
