About Imran

Dr. Imran Haider serves as a Lecturer in Accounting and Course Lead for Honours Accounting in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance, Faculty of Business and Law at Curtin University in Perth, Australia. He completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Accounting at Curtin University from 2014 to 2016. His doctoral thesis, "CEO Reputation, Power and Accounting and Market Based Measures of Financial Reporting Quality," was chiefly supervised by Professor Nigar Sultana. Haider's academic career at Curtin University commenced following his PhD, where he has established himself as a dedicated educator and researcher.

Haider's research focuses on corporate governance quality, audit quality, CEO power and incentives, CEO ability, and financial reporting quality, with additional interests in integrated reporting, sustainability accounting, ESG reporting, and carbon accounting. His scholarly contributions include numerous peer-reviewed publications such as "CEO career horizons and readability of the notes to financial statements" (2025, International Journal of Accounting & Information Management, ABDC A, Scopus Q1), "Unravelling the relationship between CEO succession origin and audit fees: the moderating role of educational reputation" (2025), "Earnings management, the informative value of key audit matters and readability: the perspective of external auditor patronage" (2025), "Internal audit function and investment efficiency: Evidence from public companies in Indonesia" (2023, Cogent Business & Management), "Factors affecting investor demand in a health emergency" (2023), "Corporate social responsibility and bank liquidity creation" (2023), "Managerial compensation, family firms and firms' innovation: evidence from Indonesia" (2022), "Managerial Ability and Accounting Conservatism" (2020), "Political connections, overinvestment and governance mechanism in Indonesia" (2020, Asian Journal of Accounting Research), and "CEO age and analysts forecast properties" (2019). These works, which often explore CEO characteristics, governance mechanisms, and firm outcomes in emerging markets like Indonesia, have accumulated 147 citations on Google Scholar. In 2019, Haider led as Principal Investigator on an AFAANZ research grant for the project "The effect of corporate social responsibility on bank liquidity creation," collaborating with Dr. Chen Zheng and Dr. Alex Zhang, mentored by Professor Adrian Cheung. He contributes to the broader academic community through guest lectures at institutions including Universitas Airlangga and Universitas Mataram, and serves as a research supervisor at Curtin University.
