Dr. Quoc Viet Hung Nguyen, known professionally as Henry Nguyen, is an Associate Professor in the School of Information and Communication Technology within Griffith Sciences at Griffith University, Gold Coast campus. He serves as Director of the Responsible Big Data Lab. Nguyen obtained his Master's and PhD degrees from the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland. His career includes a postdoctoral position at the University of Queensland from October 2015 to May 2017, followed by his appointment as Lecturer at Griffith University in May 2017, progressing to Associate Professor.
Nguyen's research focuses on big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning, particularly in areas such as graph learning, trustworthy and privacy-preserving AI, fake news detection, network alignment, reinforcement learning, and personalized recommendations. He has received the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA) for the project 'Minimising Human Efforts to Fight Fake News' (2020-2023; Grant ID: DE200101465) and participated in ARC Discovery Projects, including funding awarded in 2019 and 2023. Key publications include 'Do as I can, not as I get: Topology-aware multi-hop reasoning' (2025), 'Adaptive Reinforcement Learning based on Attention Mechanism' (2023), 'Privacy-preserving explainable AI: a survey' (2025), 'A comparative study on network alignment techniques' (2020), and 'Inferring substitutable products with deep network embedding' (2019). Nguyen leads AI initiatives for detecting criminal cryptocurrency transactions and has served as an Area Chair for The Web Conference (WWW) 2026. His contributions advance responsible AI applications across academic and practical domains.
