Dr. Genevieve Vuong is a part-time lecturer and research assistant in the Faculty of Health at Southern Cross University, Gold Coast campus. She earned a Bachelor of Speech Pathology (Honours) and a PhD from the University of Queensland. Her doctoral dissertation investigated the feasibility, usability, and acceptability of TeleCHAT, a comprehensive high-dose aphasia therapy program delivered via telerehabilitation, to improve access to intensive speech pathology services. Dr. Vuong teaches in the areas of adult communication and swallowing disorders within the Speech Pathology discipline. Her research interests focus on the development and application of digital technologies and telerehabilitation in communication management, with an emphasis on equitable service delivery for individuals with aphasia and culturally and linguistically diverse populations. She enjoys engaging students in these teaching areas and is committed to advancing clinical and educational practices in speech pathology.
In addition to her academic positions, Dr. Vuong works clinically as a certified practising speech pathologist at Gold Coast Private Hospital, managing a dysphagia caseload across acute general medicine, oncology, critical care, and rehabilitation services. Her peer-reviewed publications include 'Feasibility of delivering TeleCHAT: A comprehensive high-dose aphasia treatment via telerehabilitation' (Clinical Rehabilitation, 2025), 'Configuration of a telerehabilitation system to deliver a comprehensive high-dose aphasia treatment: a human-centred design approach' (Aphasiology, 2024), and 'Ready to practice in hospitals? Insights into developing a co-designed intensive model for student learning' (Journal of University Teaching & Learning Practice, 2024). These contributions highlight her role in enhancing telerehabilitation methodologies and speech pathology training programs.
